Peta Nocona

24”x18” Oil on Canvas

By Julian Centofante

A renowned chief celebrated for his skill in battle, Peta Nocona led numerous raids across Texas and Mexico. He was a key figure in the 1850s during the height of Comanche resistance against the Texas Rangers. He famously married Cynthia Ann Parker, and together they had a son, Quanah — the next great Comanche chief. Their story became one of the most iconic tales of the American West, inspiring films like The Searchers.
